In the midst of a crazy bowl season, I can’t help but be impressed by the big ten undefeated in bowl games. There have been a ton of upsets this season, but the Big Ten has the best of them all.
I’m starting to believe that people really didn’t know what the Big Ten was until this season. It was a bunch of old men who were trying to win something. It’s not surprising that they never tried to beat the SEC, but I’m starting to wonder how much more out of touch they are with reality.
While the Big Ten has its share of upsets, its also become a pretty solid conference in bowl games. If any team has the talent and the ability to pull away from the competition, they will do so. In the past two years, both Nebraska and Michigan State have done just that. In fact, both of those teams have been on a run of upsets lately, but they still have a chance to finish 10-0 or even 10-1.
The fact is, it’s pretty easy to get upset about the teams that are the SEC favorites. The SEC is more like the Big 10 than it is the Big East. The SEC has the Big 10’s best players, and the Big 10 has the Big East’s best players. The SEC also has a better overall schedule than the Big 10. The SEC has a better overall record, but the Big 10 does not.
State and Tennessee are both in the SEC, but only State has a better overall record than Tennessee. State also has a better overall record than South Carolina. South Carolina has a better overall record than Texas A&M.
The SEC has some of the best bowl matchups, both in terms of actual wins and how the bowls are played. The SEC has three national championships, including a one-loss title by Georgia, and has the highest winning percentage among the six conferences in both AP and USA Today polls. The SEC also has the SEC’s highest winning percentage since 2002.
It’s the same story at the other end of the spectrum. The SEC has two national titles in its history, but just one bowl Championship. The SEC also has two national championships but only one bowl title.
The SEC has won five NCAA titles, including a four-time national champ in both the 1990s and 2000s. In terms of actual bowl victories, the SEC has just one. The SEC also has the SECs highest winning percentage since 2002.
The SEC has won five bowl titles, but just one NCAA title. The SEC has won the College Football National Championship five times, but just one National Coach of the Year award. The SEC also has the SECs highest winning percentage since 2002.
The SEC’s only bowl title is the BCS National Championship Game. The SEC has won the BCS National Championship five times, but just one National Championship Game title. The SEC has won the BCS National Championship five times, but just one National Championship Game title.
