Nintendo’s latest gaming console, the Nintendo Mini 620, was released in September 2013. Nintendo’s new console is set to be released in early 2014, and it will be available in either North America or Europe. The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are just two of the many platforms that will be released, and it doesn’t stop there.
While Nintendo may not be releasing a new console every year, its Nintendo Mini 620 is one of the newest additions to the Nintendo Family of Systems. This is the company’s smallest model of console and is based on the Wii U. And yes, it is a Wii U.
Because people want to play their Wii U games on the mini 620 while they are playing their Wii U games, Nintendo has decided it would be smart to make this model the mini 620. This means the console will have a display of 720p which is roughly equivalent to the 720p resolution of a television. It will also support up to four Wii U games at once using the Wiimote and GamePad controller.
One of the interesting things about the Wii U is the fact that it is the first Nintendo console to support the DualShock 4. This is not a new feature because Wii U games have been using the DualShock 3 controller since 2011. However, the Wii U is the first console to support the controller, even if the controller is not actually a Wii U controller.
It does seem weird that we’re talking about the Wii U with a controller when it is the first console that supports the controller. While it is true that the Wii U controller has not been used on most games, it is still the first console to support the controller. It does mean though that Wii U game developers are able to use Nintendo’s new controller to make games for the Wii U.
Nintendo’s new controller has been available in the UK since May, so it’s only been a couple of weeks since it was announced in the US, but I’m already seeing more games using the controller in my own time than I would have thought possible. Just look at the list of games on the list I linked to earlier.
I guess Nintendo will be able to create a bunch of more games for the GameCube and 3DS, and some of these might make it onto the Wii U too.
Yes and no. Nintendo is definitely putting more games out for the Wii U than the Switch, but it’s not clear just yet if its new controller will be used to make any of the games. It’s not even clear if it will be used to play them on the 3D screen at all.
The same can be said of the games on the list. The GameCube is the only place I’ve seen an official list of which games are coming for the Wii U, and it’s just not clear if the Wii U will be the only place to play them.
Nintendo’s goal in the next few months is to show the rest of the world that its still a serious platform. While its definitely not going to be the only platform, it should be a strong contender for that role. The games I’ve seen for it are pretty good, so I wouldn’t necessarily say it will be the last console that Nintendo makes.
