I have a couple of these, plus a few more of my own. They are a great way to practice your hunting skills, your shooting skills, and your camping skills.
The most important part of a scout board is the board itself. The two most important things to consider is how sturdy it is (and if you use a hardwood one, does it need to be painted) and if you plan on using a tripod, the distance between the board and the source of the light. If you plan on using a tripod, you may want to consider using either a hardwood board or a softwood board.
We were out on our first scouting trip of our own, and the first thing that you should do is put the board next to a source of light. A light on your camp is a great way to get the balance of light and shadow right. I like to use a flashlight, but you can use a cell phone or a computer to get a good balance of light and shadow.
This doesn’t mean you have to get as far away from the light as you can, but you should consider putting the board closer to the light. The farther away you put the boards, the more light you’ll lose and the less distance you’ll have to cover. The best practice for us was to put the board about ten feet away from the light, so the board was in between us and the light.
We used to put the boards in the back yard because that gave us the greatest distance between the board and the light. Now that the board is set up in a house, we put it in the garage, which has the light from the outside, but not the light from the inside. This puts the board between us and the light, like a shield. This lets us cover a lot more ground than before.
The board is essentially a white board, which allows for much more detail than the white walls of the garage. We can move the board around so we can get into the light and out of the garage. It makes scouting easier.
We’ve tested the board in the garage by moving it so the back of it is toward the light. This gives us the ability to move the board around and get into the light at the same time. The light is a white wall, so we can’t move the board out of the garage. Instead, we need to put it in front of the light.
The board is an awesome tool. Its great for a home office or school room. It also goes well with a whiteboard. If your garage is white, then you can put it in the corner and create a whiteboard.
You can also use it for whiteboards and easels. You don’t have to use the same whiteboard as the one in the garage.
